Bradley Ross-Shannon
Founder & Principal
Brad Ross-Shannon is the founder and principal of Ross-Shannon & Proctor, P.C. He was born and raised in Rockford, Illinois and attended college at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Brad worked as a construction laborer in the summers of college, where he learned and developed a strong, Midwestern work ethic. After graduating from Miami, Brad moved to Colorado and attended the University of Denver Law School. During law school, Brad clerked for the Dean of the law school’s firm, and later for Renner and Rodman, practicing insurance defense. Upon graduation, he went to work for Renner and Rodman as an associate attorney.
After Paul Renner’s retirement and appointment to a Federal administrative law judgeship, Brad became a partner of Rodman and Ross-Shannon. He stayed with Rodman Ross-Shannon until 2002, at which time he formed The Ross-Shannon Law Firm, P.C. The firm started with one employee and with Brad as the only lawyer and grew over time to its present size.
Brad has tried over 135 jury trials to verdict with an 89% success rate. He has tried cases in federal court and in state district courts all over the state. Brad’s and the firm’s trial results can be seen in the Trials and Appeals tab in this website.
Brad has also appeared and argued before the Colorado Court of Appeals and Colorado Supreme Court on numerous occasions. He was the lead counsel in significant decisions such as the Leif v. Biehoffer, 338 P.3d 1136 (Colo. App. 2014) and Lee’s Mobile Wash v. Campbell, 853 P.2d 1140 (Colo. 1993).
Brad’s practice is devoted to representing insurance companies and their insureds in pre-litigation investigation to appeals. He has defended insurers in first party contractual and extra-contractual, bad faith claims. He has represented insureds in personal injury accidents, wrongful death, premises liability, defamation, abuse of process, wrongful discharge, civil rights violations, and equine liability claims. He also has extensive experience in defending construction defect claims and issues.
In 2001, Brad was honored to be elected by his peers to the Colorado chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates. ABOTA is a national organization of plaintiff and defense lawyers who are committed to the preservation of jury trials in civil cases. The members must have trial experience and exhibit high professional and ethical qualities. Brad served as the President of the Colorado Chapter of ABOTA in 2021. In 2023 Brad spearheaded ABOTA’s successful effort in passing legislation approved by the Governor establishing an annual Jury Appreciation Day in Colorado. Brad is also an elected Super Lawyer since 2010 and an AV rated lawyer since the 1990’s. He is an active member of the Colorado Defense Lawyers Association as well as the Denver, First Judicial District and Colorado Bar Associations.
